Info for Al-Bunduqiyya – The Lost Concerto

Der charismatische, weltoffene Cellist Giovanni Sollima gesellt sich zu den Instrumentalisten von Il Pomo d’Oro für Al-Bunduqiyya – The Lost Concerto.

Das kultur- und zeitübergreifende Album stellt den 1678 in Venedig geborenen Vivaldi in den Kontext der historischen Beziehung seiner Heimatstadt zum östlichen Mittelmeerraum und zu Asien. Al-Bunduqiyya ist der arabische Name für Venedig und „Das verlorene Konzert“ (Il Concerto Perduto) ist ein 2021 von Sollima komponiertes Werk. Sein Ausgangspunkt war alles, was von einem von Vivaldis Cellokonzerten übrig geblieben ist: der Orchester-Bratschenpart, der heute im Konservatorium von Venedig aufbewahrt wird.

Zu den weiteren Stücken zählen komplette Konzerte von Vivaldi, Soloimprovisationen von Sollima, ein Stück von Vivaldis Zeitgenosse Tartini sowie Musik der zypriotischen und albanischen Tradition.

Als das Programm von Al-Bunduqiyya in der Londoner Wigmore Hall aufgeführt wurde, schrieb Seen and Heard International: „Sollima zauberte ein Fest der Klangfarben, stürzte sich in Pizzicatos, kletterte mit romantischer Bravour in die Höhen des Griffbretts und zauberte ornamentale Schnörkel mit improvisatorischem Flair.“ , findet ein intensives Gefühl, bevor er einen wilden Tanz entfacht und mit ein paar Glissandi-Kläffs abschließt! Das war ebenso Theater wie Musik.“
