Info for Upside Down
The old-fashioned way, but never old-fashioned! This autumn, Lyder Røed Quintet is releasing a brand new album on Jazzland, and it's a fresh affair. It's the sound of great musicality gathered in one room, a jazz tribute in party form from start to finish. The music is inspired by the coolest American jazz music from the 60s, i.e. names like Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and Nat Adderley, and not least Roy Hargrove from more recent times.
Since their debut album The Moon Doesn't Drink from 2019, also released at Jazzland, their music has evolved and moved more towards the warm and melodic, but still has a foot, or at least a couple of toes, in the Norwegian jazz landscape. The new disc Upside Down was written and arranged by Lyder, but it's the whole phenomenal band that boils out of the speakers. It was recorded with everyone in the same room, with no editing or post-processing other than mixing. Just like we get to experience them at Victoria.
